Lots of progress

 Since the last post I've gotten a lot done.

Finished the spackling and painting and painted the inside of the front door.

I picked up a couple of pieces of furniture that my uncle gave me back in '74 that my daughter had custody of.  One, a desk, had been refinished some time ago and I'm going to leave it as is but I did purchase a neat old office chair to go with it.

The other piece is an old sideboard that I'm going to use as an island on wheels.  I mounted it on casters and painted it.  When I get to doing countertops I'll install one on the sideboard.

I hung the kitchen & island lights and installed cabinet/drawer pulls.  All of these items I salvaged from my daughter's house when we renovated her kitchen.

I built a box to cover the pipes & wires to my hot water heater and a rack to hold my two induction burners when they're not in use.

I installed trim around the wall to ceiling junction, framed the octagonal window in the east wall and finished the trim there, installed my mini-split heat & AC unit and trim on the face of the loft.

Framed both living room windows and built shelves above them.

Misc Stuff

 I've gotten lots of stuff accomplished since the last post.  I've managed to get the house to a point where I can move in, though it's not finished yet.

Bathroom has been primed and painted, the combo washer/dryer installed and the toilet and flooring installed.

I installed shelves over the washer/dryer, built a tilt-out hamper, framed the window and put up a shelf with storage boxes above the window.

I built a loft ladder and painted one kitchen wall red.

Spackled and painted the last section, under the loft and the closet and put up a shelf and clothes rod in the closet.

I purchased kitchen cabinets and built one cabinet to hold my countertop dishwasher and painted them all.  Installed the sink and faucet.

And I built out my built-in dresser/storage cabinet.  There are 8 cubes. Each one holds two storage boxes, one in front and one in back.  Below that are three drawers.

 I finished the spackling in the main portion of the house and primed the walls.  I was very surprised that it turned out so well.  Only had a couple of spots to touch up and then I painted the walls.

Once that was done I had the courage to start spackling the bathroom which is underway.  I hope to finish that up this week and get it painted.  During the spackling, priming and painting process there is some down time waiting for stuff to dry so I while waiting I finished up the outside trim...corner trim, window and door trim, etc.

Also, now that I have my new mattress I've started sleeping in the house.  I haven't really moved in, I'll do that once I get a toilet and sink installed but sleeping on the new mattress is way more comfortable than sleeping on the RV mattress.

Sheetrock & Mud

 Yesterday I finished installing the sheetrock.

Today I started the process of mud and tape.  I've never been very good at this, or more honestly, I've always sucked at this, but I figure I can learn to do an adequate job.  So, I may be mudding and sanding for weeks and weeks...just have to wait and see if an old dog can learn a new trick.
